Outcome
Meeting informally in Wicklow on 31 August–1 September, EU defence ministers heard Kaja Kallas announce a new High-Level Group on Defence, bringing together senior political and military figures from EU member states, the UK and Ukraine to close European capability gaps, and urge member states to send or sell Ukraine interceptor missiles nearing their expiry date. Kallas put EU defence support already disbursed to Ukraine at €8.37 billion through the Ukraine Support Loan and Ireland pledged €10 million to the EU military assistance mission as part of a €125 million package, but as an informal format the meeting took no formal decisions.
